Yesterday evening a bump came out of nowhere and knocked me off my unicycle. Instead of landing on my feet, I belly flopped onto pavement- my unicycle flipped through the air and landed some distance away. I was going fast, and I hit the ground hard, sliding to a stop like marshmellow on sandpaper. Little pebbles and dirt broke through my flesh and became embedded in my skin. I remember thinking that I hadn't been in such intimate contact with asphalt for at least five years. A couple stopped their car to see if I was okay. "Oh my, is that a unicycle?"
One of my two pairs of jeans is now ventilated with bloody holes, and for the moment my right hand doesn't work. I've been having fun learning to do things with my left hand though- it brings back memories of when I had to learn to do the same things but with my right hand. Pouring milk, using a fork, brushing teeth, typing...
